Betty Davis Tribute
The Sea Monster Lounge is a night club/live-music venue in Seattle that features funk, soul, and jazz performances. This poster was designed for an event put on by the house band. Betty Davis is considered by many to be the “Queen of Funk.” The aim was to show her the appreciation she deserves for her contribution to the funk genre, along with other under-appreciated women in funk music.
The intended impact of this poster was to give the viewer a feel for the type of experience they could expect to have at the concert. When you arrive for a show at Sea Monster Lounge, you walk into a darkened bar lit up here and there with colorful LED and stage lights, and you see people dressed in costumes and wild outfits. The atmosphere is celebratory, funky-fun with lots of dancing.
